Glass Studio
Hands On Art Studio was one of the first contemporary ceramic studios to offer glass fusing as a project option twelve years ago. Since then we have consistently added new forms, techniques and materials - and combined the medium with copper and steel in the Metal Studio Buffet. In 2007, we added a new 1000 square-foot studio dedicated solely to Hot Glass Arts.
The Hands On Hot Glass Arts building blends well with the rest of the “Art Farm” buildings; incorporating natural materials, steel roofing, large windows and glass garage doors open to the out-of-doors. And, the new structure opens to a courtyard greenspace, offering a great view of the Hands On property.
The Hot Glass Arts Studio offers in-depth experiences with Glass Fusing and Lampworking. YOU can choose from any of the above mediums of expression.WE will provide you with help and expertise in creating your projects.
Glass Fusing
Choose from a variety of projects – plates, low bowls, suncatchers, rectangular and abstract art pieces and rondelles. We stock a variety of colors and textures of fusible art glass sheets, dichroics, stringers, fractures and frits. All of these can be used compatibly to create an art piece that is then fired to 1375 F, overnight.
Lampworking
A more three-dimensional approach: Use torches on glass strips and rods to melt and form them into small sculptural beads, figurines and various shapes. These pieces can be used in jewelry or incorporated into fused projects.
We will offer demonstrations in the Hot Art Glass Studio on a regular basis. For those of you who have enjoyed other projects at Hands On, this hot new studio will be a cool place to expand your range of skills!
