Artists are naturally eager to see their finished pieces, but it’s a process that can’t be rushed! Our electric kilns are digitally controlled, so we can program them for very specific firing cycles, even so, the most reliable cycle takes eight hours to reach the proper temperature and ten more to cool down. The cooling process must take place slowly and naturally, or the ceramic pieces can shatter. Same with fused glass, it is also a kiln process.

Moaics need to sit overnight so the glue has a chance to dry.  Then we mix up the colors of grout, add them to the projects then let sit for 15 -20 minutes.  We then have to wipe of the excess grout mutliple times with a wet sponge and then let them dry until the final wipe with a soft cloth.

If you’ve painted on wood or metal, of course your pieces will have dried sufficiently before 2:30 p.m., so it’s okay to stop in earlier! We make every effort to work with you, so if you have special needs, just ask.
